Sir Alf:
Spot on. A strong midfield that can feed our attacking forwards would be a good start to recovery as they have been starved of service for the last 2 seasons.

I suspect Carvalho wouldn't want to a basket-case club like ours unless we offered truly exceptional wages, and a non-negotiable exit clause in case of relegation.

We looked like a reasonably well-run club, from the outside at least, in the early Summer.

Until the fucking around with bringing in Carvalho, something he would've seen at quite close quarters.

I really don't think we are in a relegation battle.

'Battle' implies that you actually want to try to not get relegated.

Re: âš½ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 4-0
Mex I have to disagree ( respectfully of course) on that.

The Jan window is our best hope IMHO but since it is the mid season one the chances of getting 2 key players we need ( again IMO ) is not good but we have to try.

If we cannot secure a Payet on form ( unlikely in the extreme) get 2 central midfielders of quality and be prepared to pay over the odds for them. One has to be physical, tall, strong on the ball and with great passing ability. Is that Carvahlo? Maybe? The other has to be an unselfish worker with pace and mobility who can resemble a headless chicken at times but is prepared to top the stats in ground covered. The job is to press and close relentlessly and cover the counterattacks ( needs to have real speed). A kind of Fernandinho tyoe. Ideally you get two in case of injuries ( which have a habit of hitting us hard).

Not sure if there is anyone available but pay the money even to a championship side worst case.

It will take money and risking it which means it wont happen but get 2 players in that central area that complement each other but will be the lynch pin for everything. Easy said not easy to get I realise. Would also need to be under 28 which is the West Ham age measure it seems. We need players in the 22 - 25 bracket ( again the most expensive). Everything Sullivan will never do :-( Pay big money for the long term :-(

It will transform us. Of course there are other areas like right and left back / wing back and centre back that need strengthening but in terms of priorities the centre midfield is the one that will make all the difference.

This is all statements of the bleedin obvious I know. EVen if we do not get them , one or both, I would love to know what Moyes thinks is needed ( if he does think)? Kouyate and Obiang, Noble and Fernandes. None of them are good enough, suitable , prepared enough to do the job that we desperately need. Win the fvcking midfield. Get and keep the ball, close down and track relentlessly. We didnt even win midfield with Payet. I think you have to go back to Parker and Noble but even that was only on a few occasions.

Easy this management malarky when sitting in your armchair with a hypothetical 80 million to spend.

I really do not think the individueles in the squad is the problem, we have a lot of at one time good players. Of course they are all playing crap with no team work. That is a massive problem for the manager and his team. It appears that changing the manager and team has not worked. I do not think bring in a few players of similar talent in January will change much. The change has to come from the squad we have, lead by the manager, his coaches or the squad themselves.
Moyes saw promise in the 2nd half at Everton!
It will be a long season.

Actually thought we would win last night, doubt any other team in the premiership and few in the championship would have been turned over by that lot. The OS is going to look very empty next season thanks to the scum that own our club.

On a positive note. That shambles meant that I won another round of the SLB.

The only radio station I could listen to this morning which didn't mention us was radio 4!

Even Radio 2 was mocking us.

Its no fun being a West Ham fan at the moment.

I'd say right now. Umpteen training sessions and 3 games imo is enough time to get over some of his own ideas, but he hasn't done it, and with these next 3 games you can't see it improving anytime soon.

At what point does the new man start taking the blame though? Because according to some on here, Bilic must still be giving the team talks.
